just out of curiosity, what do you consider minimum supervision to be?

If your conciousness believes it will not happen, then you're correct, it will not

I would disagree my friend, everyone deserves a vote. The segregation of any people from democracy, including "dumbass rednecks", is a view that promotes seperation in a time when unity is the only solution. From a position of inclusion, love, patience and compassion, we must lift up together as one.

similar to what's happening in the US and will eventually be 'solved' by age verification and digital IDs. Don't be fooled by the different names of the countries, this is a global initiative.

add on top of that:

  • time for Iran to administrate passage
  • time for each boat to enter/exit under security
  • reduced production rates due to full tanks or damaged infrastructure
  • time for countries to raise sovereign capital (selling bonds, gold and currency reserves) to meet price increases

estimates are a reduction of 15-25% of global supply and 3-5 years to recover IF the straight is opened immediately and stays open. You can't print oil ppl. The price per barrel will need to be high enough to squash 15-25% of global demand. We could see $300-350+ per barrel.

Killing in the name of god and self-gain is the systemic problem. the worst of our humanity is being exploited while our greatest potential is being suppressed. The world has let Palestine be slaughtered and Iran is just next. I keep hearing Trump has 'no exit strategy', when actually it's pretty simple: just leave and say sorry. But no, he cares for wealth more than he cares for the lives of disposable children, and he'll bomb anything that makes him richer.

Yeah, just the title. Feels good

I am a new Linux user and have settled on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS in Wayland. In Windows, I used AutoHotKey to automate the keyboard to type repetitive text strings with a hotkey e.g. pressing Alt+E to type my@email.com

I believe the solution in Linux is to install an application like dotool or ydotool and then create a custom shortcut command. The problem is I cannot get dotool and ydotool to work. I'll document the issues I'm having with ydotool as there seems to be more awareness and support for this application.

I am following the instillation instructions here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1413829/how-can-i-install-and-use-the-latest-ydotool-keyboard-automation-tool-working-o

Everything seems to go fine until I get to this step and get the following error:

sudo systemctl enable ydotoold

Failed to enable unit: Unit file ydotoold.service does not exist.

I came across this issue which suggests it could be a permissions issue on /dev/uinput and tried to the solution provided in that post but I still can't enable ydotoold after a reboot.

Running this command works:

ydotoold --version

v1.0.4-38-g708e96f

But I am stuck here and not sure how to troubleshoot or progress further. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

The main barrier for me transitioning to Linux as my main OS is finding a suitable alternative to AutoHotKey (AHK) on windows. I use AHK for all kinds of automation but haven't found a usable alternative in Wayland.

Thought I'd check here to see if anyone has any suggestions?

Would be nice to see these QOL features added:

  1. When changing account using the left pull out bar, uit would be nice if a user could tap the currently logged in user name to drop down the list of users instead of only being able to tap the three dots. Very frustrating when trying to change accounts one handed.
  2. Pressing Android system 'back' button when in settings minimises the app when it should move back to the pull out drawer and again to go back to the feed.

One issue I wanted to discuss is when a post thumbnail image is cropped or not-scaled to fit on my screen.

I have the "Limit thumbnails height" setting turned off, which mostly ensures the full image of a post is displayed. However, more and more I'm seeing thumbnail images cropped due to width and I have to open the image to see the full image.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is it the expected behaviour of the app? Is my desire to see the full image of each post on my feed as I scroll ridiculous?

Thanks.

It would be nice if there was an option for different settings per account. For example, hide NSFW on one account but show NSFW on another.

Then when I switch accounts, the settings switch also.

Everytime I open the app it takes me to /All where as I would like to set the default view to /Subscribed
