I’m using voyager right now and I love it.

[–] Confining@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 3 months ago

I already do it on my browser and I get dopamine hit everytime I see the number count go up but I didn’t know about the mobile app, about to do it right now.

TLDR: I love sideloaded apps and they r a godsend

So I’ve been using sideloaded yt and Spotify and now I can NEVER go back. Makes me feel like a PEASANT if I do.

So a couple weeks ago I went on a 4 hour drive and sadly my sidestore time expired and I couldn’t renew due to ap ID it so I had to wait a week and by the time I would drive another 4 hours back. And let me tell you FREE SPOTIFY SUCKS ASS. I can’t go back or scrub through the songs, I can only do 6 skips per hour and replay COUNTS AS THE 6, luckily I use a vpn which blocked other company ads but SPOTIFY HAS THEIR OWN DAMN STUPID ADS EVERY 3 SONGS. And I couldn’t add songs to queue by swiping and I had to tap on the three dots and add to queue which I can’t do while on the highway. And of course I can’t play a specific song, I can’t even decide whether I want shuffle or not. And I didn’t even wanna try yt with no playing off the app or while the phone is off.

It’s as if getting into sideloading, piracy, and modding made me feel true online freedom and I can’t wait or imagine the feeling I’m going to have when I start self hosting. I’m definitely going to donate to these projects due to the improvement in my life they contributed to.

I use it as my cloud backup along with 2 drives. It’s pretty good, smooth, open source, and claims e2ee just like proton and mega, and no bugs that I’ve found. I would put it on the same level as proton just newer. But just like how Libb said, if you worry about the future governments or want more privacy, maybe consider using cryptomator and this goes for any cloud storage. I use it with Filen and everything has been good so far.

Also you sadly just missed their last lifetime pro plans sale but doesn’t sad like you need it. Hope this helps!!

I don’t use cloudflare but the only reason I noticed is a lot of websites I go on use cloudflare captcha due to me using a vpn. Now I can’t even get on those website due to the captcha being down 😭

They have not had an audit yet but they are planning on it when they finish implementing their new service or something like that. That will be their first audit I believe.

So I got a survey from Anker and when I clicked the link and answered what I needed to I decided to go back using the link and it stated I already answered it.

My default browsing app is Firefox focus on ios and wiped all data when done. Tried it in brave private mode and ddg all on ios and it gave me the same results. Finally I opened the link on Mullvad browser on my pc and still the same result.

I understand why they have trackers that knows if you completed or not and I’m not faulting them for this, just trying to tinker and figure out how it works. My guess is that the tracker is associated with the alias email and the link can be disabled or show a certain message once I reach a certain point. If anyone knows how to this works please inform me as I would like to learn how this works and would appreciate this lesson.

Yes I’ve heard of it and would love to do that and when it’s possible, I will. Sadly it is not an option right now so sideloading it is

I would, and plan on doing it but that is not something I can do right due to lack of hardware and skills. This is just a temporary solution until I can self host my own.

So I just figured out that Spotify has stopped letting free users pick specific songs in their own playlists. They let you do it a certain amount of times and I think that is the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. Not letting you pick for a searched song is one thing but in your own playlist is pushing it.

Now the only way I found out is from eveespotify. I don’t have the official Spotify just ever before it got hit and spotc++. Should I wait for spotc++ to update and remove that but also do you guys have other side loaded apps for any music software such as ytmusic or Spotify. Thanks in advance

I don’t believe so. Don’t think It would be viable to do it for that cheap. JMP.Chat is 5 bucks a month

Thank you very much I appreciate you amigo

Ok it sounds like a good fit for me thank you for the confirmation. I truly appreciate it.

Yes that’s plenty of time. Is it just one number? For 5 bucks a month? And if I wanted more I would have to get another subscription with a different jabber id? Thank you for the reply by the way!!

So I’ve been doing research and learned of the new things; Jmp.chat, jabber, xmpp.

So If I got it correct, xmpp is an open protocol that apps such as zoom and WhatsApp use to transmit messages. I’m not sure what jabber is yet but i think the jabber id you get acts like an email such as “johndoe@notgmail.com” and that is how people can send you messages.

Now my main question is if JMP.chat could be a replacement for MySudo or Google voip and any other voip providers. Basically can I use a phone number from JMP.Chat to use as my business phone number that I can get calls to, make calls from, receive to and text from, or use as a random number to give out to random websites or random people.

I am currently using MySudo but before I get more numbers to better compartmentalize my life, I was looking at better options and if I understand it correctly, JMP.Chat seems to fill that gap perfectly.

Please inform and/or correct me if I misunderstood or got something wrong as I want to learn what it is, if it’s a viable replacement and if it’s something I can utilize to better compartmentalize my life. Thanks you in advance

It’s almost like we told everyone long ago what was going to happen. But we are the paranoid ones.

Hello, I’ve recently discovered self hosting and I really want to get into it. I’m not going to fully deep dive now, but I at least want to know the basics before I start my own journey. So today I came to ask if anybody has a roadmap or recommends a path for me to get into self hosting.

As far as Linux goes, I’m currently on Mint but only know how to update and switch/list directories. I do not know docker but understand the basics of it. This also goes for tailscale.

I know what a NAS is and how it works and the different Raids and when to use which one. I know what I want to self host but I am not sure if I want to use docker or proxmox. I’m also don’t understand the proxmox and how it works. Any information or tutorial would be highly appreciated. Thanks you

Hey just wondering if anybody has any experience in a decentralized cloud storage solution. Pretty much just a personal replacement of Google, Apple, and Dropbox services. I’ve been doing some research and it seems like a cool technology that I have not heard about until I went looking for it. So just wanted to know if anyone had experience with it, the pricing, and which one they recommended. Thanks you.
