Version 2026.04.07 is already out on Codeberg, F-Droid, iOS and Flatpak -and soon on Google Play too!

The update includes #OpenStreetMap data from April 5, brings a refreshed outdoor map style, displays if organic options are available in stores/restaurants/…, and localized road shields for more countries.

All changes are here: https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps/releases/tag/v2026.04.07-8

Release 2026.03.23 is now out in all channels. In addition to OpenStreetMap data from March 21, it includes support for more sports types, four more Wikipedia languages and more. Full details here: https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps/releases/tag/v2026.03.23-5

To allow all of our users to download offline maps reliably and quickly, we need servers in many different locations. Some of these servers are rented, thanks to the donations we get.

But some of them are also hardware donations, where we are allowed to use otherwise underused hardware! A big thanks go to Mathias Klein as well as the French OpenStreetMap chapter, who provide us with server capacities in Germany and France respectively!

Did you know, if you are using @cartes_app@amicale.net as a web-based map on your phone, you can now also move your route planning from there right into CoMaps:

And, if you're not francophone: the team has started to improve its support for more languages recently!

Release 2026.03.09 is out. It brings many improvements, including displaying the amounts charged for using facilities, displaying populations of cities and towns, and on Android support for Type 1 Combo EV chargers. Together, Javi – a FOSS advocate and Linux hacker – and his partner Rebecca are bikepacking (and hacking) around the world. On our blog they talk about their adventure and how they use CoMaps to always find their way even in remote places, thanks to #openstreetmap-based offline maps!

On International Women's Day, we celebrate the women who contribute to CoMaps and OpenStreetMap, and also the women in our community who use CoMaps!

It's our goal to make CoMaps representative of the world that it serves. Do you have ideas for how we can improve our gender equality? Let us know!

Since the #39c3 in December, every first Sunday of the month has been a "Digital Independence Day" for trying out alternatives to dominant/big tech platforms.

If you're looking to explore alternatives to Google or Apple Maps, why not give CoMaps – or any of the other open source map-applications that are based on data from #OpenStreetMap – a try!

You can learn more about the #DIDay here: https://edri.org/our-work/didit-edri-members-spark-movement-for-alternatives-to-big-tech/

Since 1999, February 21 is UNESCO's International Mother Language Day, promoting multilingualism! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mother_Language_Day

As a global community, and thanks to the efforts of more than 200 translators, CoMaps is already available in more than 50 languages. Why not celebrate Mother Language Day by adding some translations and grow that number? https://translate.codeberg.org/projects/comaps/

Beyond fresh #OpenstreetMap data, you can now search for æøå, disable the display of speed limits on Android, and when navigating in Apple Car Play or Android Auto, 3D buildings are disabled to improve legibility of the map. For our social media posts, release notes etc. we often need CoMaps map screenshots. And to reflect our global community a bit better, we'd love to showcase locations that YOU think would make a great release/social media feature image.

Send us a link (either to the place on https://osm.org/ or via the CoMaps share function), and we'll try to feature those places in upcoming release notes, social media pages, etc!
