If you were in the EU, right to be forgotten laws would help, but I guess you are not.

But that is definitely a good reason to name change, it would be a problem for job interviews :/

Passkeys are basically passwords + tfa combined. You can save them in a password manager, so you have full control over them, including how to unlock them.

And companies are pushing them, because they are significantly stronger than the passwords most users use.

Wouldn't a "zany" last name become just as identifiable as your current unique name?

[–] CameronDev@programming.dev 4 points 2 weeks ago

I have done that yes, but I had a vague hallucination of some games trapping alt-f4.

What about just exit game without save. For those of use who like to save-scum :)

The description of this community is not a hard rule written in stone, and I would treat it as more of a vibe than a criteria.

If you want to take it literally, then yes, Plex doesn't count, neither does cloudflare or wordpress. And many other proprietary systems commonly used by the self hosting community.

But I think the spirit of this community is a bit more loose, and there is room for the likes of Plex.

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules for what is self hosting. Lots of people use cloudflare, which would fail both of your criteria as well.

At least with Plex/cloudflare/others, your overall control and privacy is better and more in your control than it would be with other non-self hosted alternatives.

When I looked into it, VPPs didn't make sense. Yes, you can feed back into the grid, and get a reasonable rate, but if you feed too much, you'll end up importing energy at an even higher rate, completely wiping out any potential profit.

It only makes sense if you can import and export at the exact same rate or better, and when I tried it, there was a 20c price difference.

And the "wholesale" providers are definitely not wholesale. Amber was charging 19c at 1pm today, which is peak solar generation, where the prices should be negative.

Thanks for the 2am nerd snipe :D

You can do this via git hooks and a script. Specifically the prepare-commit-msg hook (.git/hooks/prepare-commit-msg). In your script, check for the GIT_REFLOG_ACTION env variable, and check if its value is "revert". If so, you are in a revert, and you can echo/printf out whatever you would like in your template.

Might be a bit more work to get to where you want, but hopefully that points you in the right direction?

I am not a dumb pedo. I am the smartest... Smart guys, they say to me, with tears in their eyes, Mr Trump, you are the smartest pedo we've ever seen.

You'd think he'd be worried about being called a pedofile, but I guess the shoe fits.

I've got a couple of induction stove tops. They mostly use 2kw max, but pulse on and off to emulate lower power levels. So if you can't supply 2kw, you'll not have a good time.

I have run one on a 2kW inverter and an AGM battery.

They are dirt cheap, so not a huge risk if it doesn't work.
