I just came here cause my preferred reddit mobile app wanted money to work with the api or whatever. I've enjoyed being at Lemmy ever since. Granted my feed does seem to have its off days with not much going on. But that's ok.

I haven't really looked at reddit to tell what it's current state is. Nor do I care that much because Lemmy "works for me".

Just use whatever you like.

I mean... With inflation, that dollar in 5 million years might actually be worth more than 5 million dollars haha! /jk

Idk what Pringles did to their formula... But I don't like them anymore.

The Lays equivalent is wayyyyyy better. Just less flavors to choose from.

So basically, I was given my name haha. With permission from me of course. But at the time when I was just becoming aware that I'm trans I met some friends on VRChat. We would regularly hangout and stuff and the topic of names came up. I told them my now dead name and instantly my friend suggested the name "Allie". So I just rolled with it and it stuck and I liked my new name. Which is strangely fitting since my avatar is part cat, like an Alley Cat haha.

So yeah! Now I go by Allie now! But I'm probably gonna just use that as a preferred nickname and when I do my name change I'll probably write down "Allison". "Allie" for short. I'm also considering changing my middle name to "Nicole". But we'll see.

I haven't done my legal name change yet.

I've had a random idea btw... Not sure if anyone knows if this exists for voice training. This meme just randomly reminded me.

So, it used to be a popular thing way back when where there would be an audio track of an instructor repeating phrases. Usually as a purchaseable tape cassette or CD. The CD or whatever would play the phrases and then there would be moments of silence to let you participate and say the same phrases that they say. Typically this was done in order to learn foreign languages.

Does anyone have any links to similar content except for trans people? Because I would be highly interested. I'd likely purchase and collect the tracks and then put them in my car so that I can practice while driving to and from appointments. ( I drive like twice a week at a minimum, and practicing in the car is somehow less embarrasing I think haha).

Just a thought. ;-)

My mom sometimes uses "doomaflagidad" for basically anything. The only way I've been able to translate is by using context clues. Usually based on what we're talking about or if she's pointing or using hand gestures.

I remember bits and pieces from my childhood. I think most of the memories are there, it just requires something to trigger the memory to load. Like a name or a place etc. (Sometimes watching nostalgia videos can help haha.)

Like I still remember my teachers names and how friendly or strict they used to be. And I also remember some friends and drama. And Video games are also a big core memory for me haha.

In general, I think we all have memory of our childhood. We just need help to trigger our brains to remember. And if we can't find the trigger, we end up forgetting. Like installing a program on your PC but then deleting the shortcut to it.

I graduated with an associates degree in 2006. It was hard finding a job for some reason even with a degree and a internship under my belt. I think it took me 3-6 months to find a job.

By 2008, I was in that new job and mad at my step mom. So i moved out and got a roommate. From there it was very good at least for me. Only thing I dealt with was work and my health issues.

2008 was basically the start of my adult life. The naive and confident me.

One of my friends would visit and we'd share a keyboard and play this. I almost always mained Tigi.

I can literally hear Track 1 music in my brain right now lol. Good times.
