Raise your hand if you somehow feel guilty for relaxing!

[–] Godnroc@lemmy.world 38 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Bro, are you even relax maxing bro? Are you achieving nirvana on your 15-minute break, bro? You gotta start microdosing rest every time you blink, bro. You gotta do it, bro; you gotta achieve the most relaxation you can otherwise you're just waisting time, bro. You gotta take it slow as fast as you can, bro!

This is basically one of the 100 threads simultaneously running in my brain at all times.

Dude, this is Lemmy (well, PieFed for me). We're all neurodivergent here.

I know you said this likely as a joke, but that's how I feel nowadays with everyone suddenly having an autism + ADHD diagnosis.

Like I get that they definitely exist on a spectrum. Totally.

But shouldn't the spectrum be such that if the majority of the population the same as you that you shouldn't get the label? Imo diagnosing these conditions should be reserved for more severe functional impairment than the average population. Otherwise, what is really the point if that's just how nearly all humans are?

Idk. Hope people don't downvote me too harshly.

It's absolutely imperative that you stop panicking right now, or something terrible will happen!

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 2 points 8 months ago

😂 Loved that. Felt weirdly pumped up too. You should be a coach. Cheers

Maybe I can do some projects around the house... (two weeks later after building new furniture and reorganizing everything) Jesus, I'm exhausted... maybe I should paint.

I’m on sick leave, all my colleagues are telling me to chill out, my body tells me to chill, I still wonder “can I chill effectively?”

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 8 months ago

🤔 you could install a DAW and try to create some music

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 months ago

I relaxed partly by focusing on (finally setting) up a uptime monitoring VM.
Because...why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

have you tried masturbating?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 3 points 8 months ago

Meeeeee

I've taken to calling real relaxing days my "burn days" like I don't do anything noteworthy. Like I'm just burning the day and not even trying.

There is a certain negative connotation, but I find the label useful to remind myself I don't need to flourish on those days.

I sometimes daydream about if all the stuff I have to do or should do could be as fun as fun things like video games or amusement parks and that good for me food was as tasty and addictive as bad for me food. So like complex carbs could be tastly like simple carbs and vitamins were like sugar. So the produce area would be like going through the candy isle. Similarly would like to be addicted to excersise and a standard routine where I go in and do stuff that other people want done and of course housework would just be orgasmic.
