Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Every headline about actions he takes could be replaced with "Petty Little Bitch Makes Petty Little Bitch Move" and be no less accurate.

Yeah I was thinking “so much fucking drama each and every day with this piece of shit.”

Seriously I want to stay informed but there’s like, an emotional cost to keep up with US news. I almost feel like my IQ drops some days.

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That's the point. Overwhelm those who still care.

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 4 points 9 months ago

I know right? fLo0D tHE z0nE 🥴

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 months ago

Calling him a petty bitch doesn't stop him from fucking up the United States forever.

[–] 60d@lemmy.ca 58 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Cool story bro.

Where are the Epstein files?

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Trump flushed them down his golden toilet.

The one that has a built in Sybian w/ a signed tiny Putin attachment

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 40 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Tbh I'm surprised he let it go to august.

Apparently VPs only get "up to" 6 months of Secret Service protection after they leave office, with the potential for extensions.

Still shitty though.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

He probably didn't realize she had a special extension until now.

[–] marsza@lemmy.cafe 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

That doesn’t really encourage the VP to do much while in office.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I mean just compare Kamala's VPresidency to Vance's.

Tbh I can't name one thing she did do, but I do know she wasn't in the news for constantly going on vacations around the world, fucking couches, and generally being a shitty person.

She didn't kill a single Pope.

You didn't even say "thank you".

[–] mikesizachrist@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They dont really have the authority to do anything right? Their one job is to be a backup president. It's like saying an actor's second didn't have any lines in the play (because the actor was there to say them all)

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Their one job is to be a backup president.

Well, two jobs. Their other job is to cast a tie breaking vote in the Senate.

[–] mikesizachrist@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Three jobs actually. Some administrations will have the VP spread oil or vasaline on satan's asshole. A vital role if the POTUS's penis is particularly small.

Better believe they'll make an extension for Mango Musilini after he refuses to leave office and gets ejected (as we all know will happen)

Previous presidents get secret service protection for life

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 18 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Has a previous president ever done this in the history of the United States since the inception of the Secret Service?

[–] tal@lemmy.today 15 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Trump had ended Secret Service protection for John Bolton in his first term after he fell out with him. In Bolton's case, that's quite significant, due to Iran.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c78d7x08j7eo

The US is offering a $20m (£15m) reward for information leading to the arrest of an Iranian man accused of plotting to assassinate Donald Trump's former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), is accused of trying to hire criminals in the US to kill Mr Bolton, a vocal Iran critic, in exchange for $300,000.

Biden had reinstated Bolton's Secret Service protection when Biden was in office. As soon as Trump got back in, he cut it off again.

I'm not sure there's ever been an 12 month extension before (6 standard + 12 extension).

"Unavailable due to legal reasons".

List we are on now, friend

[–] GhostedIC@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 months ago

Is it safe to say GDPR was a mistake at this point?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

With any luck Trump won't be needing it for much longer either.
