I got 4 pair of bruce goose socks. the two plain ones fit fine, the two stripey ones aren't true to size, they're borderline too small. When I contacted Bruce about them, he laid some technical jargon on about how the patterened socks are tighter because of their style and design. It sounded like a total customer blow of. He did offer a return of them, but then I'm paying postage again so I'll probably just give them to mum.
I've found the patterned ones are made differently to plain so it could be legit, but man if it causes size differences they should state that clearly on their site
Ive pretty much replaced all my socks with darn tough socks, not exactly frugal, but when they wear out you can get them replaced for free.
Maybe for an American, the replacement guarantee won't be worth the postage for people in Australia. I can get locally made merino socks for $20AUD, Darn Tough are ~$50 a pair on Amazon.com.au.

You can sometimes find Darn Tough or Smartwool on sale at outdoor shops, I've always found them both to be quite good.
