Hypsizygus maybe? I can't quite make out the gill attachment and whether those are spots or scales on the cap. It would be great if you could pick one and take some close ups.

The squirrels devoured them, unfortunately. I will take more pics when they come back up again, after some rain.

Squirrels will actually hang mushrooms in a tree to dry them so they can keep them in their winter food store. They're always pulling the caps off my Xerocomellus late in the season.

They love mushrooms actually. I’ve seen them eating mushrooms a number of times.

Here in EU I never heard of that kind of behavior ! I'm kinda chocked to hear it for the first time here on Lemmy.

I see them everyday in my garden and in the woods nearby and never seen one of them grab mushrooms ! Kinda wild !
