Should we let this thread open for now or call it a day?

Since I'm #extremelyonline but also new, I would like to use my first post to plead with people not to be aggressive about pushing one particular interpretation or prediction without also informing each other. It's just going to keep new people from joining the discussion. Criticize the method of analysis, don't just insult other people. Iran seems to be a particularly sore spot, and this creates a natural opportunity for imperialists to engage in what they call hybrid warfare. We have all seen the advertisements being made by "anti-disinformation" groups which include fediverse platforms.

https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/13th_of_June_Zionist_strikes_on_Iran

This page is getting traction with randoms from Google and it's a great chance to get them to check out other pages on ProleWiki.

But since this is a huge thing and things are happening very fast, we want to try and crowdsource it.

If you read something, anything, and have a source attached, we want you to add it to the page even without an account - you don't need an account.

Everything regarding the event is good to have but we can't do it with just the editorship because by the time you save an edit, 3 more things will have happened.

So even just adding one line, even just "Damages have been reported in "Tel Aviv"", if it wasn't there before, is good to have.

Thank you for participating.

Should pin this comment to the top of the thread.

ALEXA PLAY DISCO INFERNO

[–] SlayGuevara@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I was watching the Tel Aviv livestream and the sirens started blasting. And then silence. And then in the dark night sky you see some little orange dots. Rockets were fired from nearby. The Iron Dome probably. And all of a sudden there were explosions, followed by silence, follewd by explosions.

Absolutely surreal to see.

Iran’s Air Defenses Down 2 Israeli Warplanes, Female Pilot Captured

I hope everyone had fun with their complete meltdown about how Iran wasn't going to do anything. Why even give people the opportunity to see you like that

Wild how you have pro and con israeli people in the chat flag spamming while the live stream dude is doing whatever in the back ground while waiting for a possible war to happen

Modern war is crazy

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 0 points 11 months ago

I saw a clip from Twitch of an Iranian who happened to be doing her normal livestream when missiles started striking near and around her apartment in Tehran. Truly wild. It was difficult to watch, she was rightfully in a full panic as it happened.

Ok, can someone give me a refresher on the whole "Iran nuclear program" situation? To my knowledge, they've never been found to be building weapons, correct? Or do I have that wrong?

[–] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Never, and they've been monitored for a very long time, even after the US "left" the JCPOA. There's also a fatwa against nuclear weapons

Sometimes I wish Iran would pull out all the stops and just attack Israel in the same way Israel attacks them, Lebanon and Gaza, but then I stop myself and say regardless how monstrous zionists are, that is cruel and unacceptable regardless and I'm glad Iran has the restraint to fight professionally. Israelis on the other hand absolutely want to be as monstrous as possible and celebrate their government engaging in absolute butchery; heck, they get upset if they perceive any restraint on their government's part.

If the news had any integrity they would report on Iran's professional conduct and would make that comparison.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago

The imperialists have a strategy of wreaking destruction across a whole region, even if they fail to achieve their military objectives, because stalling development through bloodshed worsens the dependency relationship. Nobody should fight wars like that!

[–] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Does Iran even have that capability? They don't have an Airforce that can operate in a meaningful way, let alone offer a threat vs Israel and they don't have sleeper cells that can operate within Israel.

They best they've got are low-tech drones and Ballistic Missles that amount to less of a threat the Germany's WW2 terror bombings of London.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago (5 children)

I think that's a crazy analogy to make considering that Iran's last attacks on Israel made the distinction between random terror bombing and modern, precision strikes on high value targets more clearly than anything we've seen outside Ukraine. Similarly, Iran has the ability to target Israel power infrastructure over years of war. How do you think these war tourists will fare in genocide Disneyland without electricity?

it's fucked that israel will institutionalize and officiate terrorism and the use of human shields, through things like the Dahiya doctrine, Neighbor procedure, Mosquito protocol, etc. and get off scot free.

UN reports have found that sex and gender-based violence commited by the IOF is so rampant that it can only be explained as standard operating procedure

I still recall when (an organization? A UN program?) that studied child SV in Israel lodged some complaints about their findings, their offices were stormed and their computers seized.

What's more is that Israel has a very serious SA and SV problem and this is when the victims are Israelis themselves; they don't even view Palestinians as humans, and you know that means it's infinitely worse against them. Heck, just look at that riot that occurred when an IDF soldier was going to be prosecuted for the SV he was filmed engaging in, a riot that was in defense of the soldier (who became a bit of a folk hero now).

—❗️🇮🇱/🇮🇷 BREAKING: HUNDREDS OF MISSILES INCOMING

Source -> https://t.me/Middle_East_Spectator/19534

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Maybe too meta but I hate how much social media gets ahead of the papers at times like this. If you followed the Syria HTS takeover from their news your would think there was still a chance until the RSS feed went down and came back up as pro-Jolani. Unfortunately it's indispensable to have a news source that follows social media. You'd miss wholesale admissions of committing war crimes.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Middle east Spectator is a news media and not a social media.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Still a bit unfortunate that it's a Telegram channel that's somewhat inaccessible from outside of the Telegram walled garden.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago

You can actually just use RSSHub for Telegram channels. It's quite convenient. Of course, Telegram could change that any time they like.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Looking at this on the bright side, this news channel is even more based than what is allowed in X or any other Yankee owned social media.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 0 points 11 months ago

That's true, Lemmy is a lot easier to browse for me but I can't fault them for trying to exist outside of the other mainstream alternatives.

Argentina ups security measures at Jewish community venues

📆 Fri, 13 Jun 2025 19:30:00 GMT

Israel has temporarily closed its embassy in Argentina and other countries due to escalating conflict with Iran. In Argentina, home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the world, the confrontation is causing concern. Security Minister Patricia Bullrich upped the alert to intermediate.
