The press secretary is supposed to spin the news, not be the news.

On that most essential qualification, the new lead White House spokeswoman, Katie Zacharia, is struggling.

She has presented herself as a lawyer but does not meet the requirements in her home state to use that title. And at least one watchdog group has asked the State Bar of California to investigate.

It's my theory that they put an intentionally bad candidate in place. People will talk about her rather than what she's supposed to be talking about. She will be a distraction and then shit canned once they're clear of midterms.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Yeah probably, that's one of the benefits. Trump looks even more incompetent though, he's not helping the republicans with this. Also, this will ruin her law career.

this will ruin her law career

Good. If she's dumb enough to not know what she was signing up for, she's too dumb to be a lawyer.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She doesn’t have a law career. She has a bullshit career, career in bullshitting.

[–] protist@retrofed.com 6 points 1 week ago

I was going to say the same thing, apparently she's not a lawyer, so what law career?

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I really do hope that watchdog group from CA follows through with the case against Zacharia's impersonating a lawyer. No surprise to find that impersonating a lawyer is AGAINST THE LAW.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Other lawyers take that very seriously. I'm sure there will be more than one going after her.

A liar? In this administration??

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 14 points 1 week ago

She’s distracting everyone from being angry that the present fucked children. That’s her job.

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not a lawyer, she meant to say she is a liar.

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

My dad is a liar. (Assuming you’re making this reference)

After graduating from Pepperdine University law school,[9][10] Zacharia worked at the Zhong Lun Law Firm.[11][12]

On October 13, 2026, a reporter asked where Zacharia passed the bar exam, and she replied, "When I moved to China."[17] The bar exam in mainland China is reserved only for Chinese citizens, which Zacharia is not. Journalist Judd Legum said he could not find any evidence that Zacharia had passed the bar exam anywhere in the United States, a finding confirmed by The Washington Post. Despite there being no evidence that Zacharia had passed bar exams in any jurisdictions, Zacharia has repeatedly referred to herself as a lawyer during her appearances on Fox News and on her social media accounts.[17][18][10] On October 14, the Campaign for Accountability filed a complaint with the State Bar of California, asking that it investigate whether Zacharia had violated state law in so doing.[19]

Trump probably remembers her from his Epstein days

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll bet you a beer if you can find her in the Trump-Epstein files.

[–] auzy1@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They probably checked, to make sure she wasn't listed.

It's a requirement for the administration.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

there is no longer any consequence for law breakers in the usa now. truly a mafia empire

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Trump can't see anything beyond the fact that she looks like his daughter he wants to fuck and has definitely molested.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

On her Linkedin page Zacharia lists herself as having worked as an “associate” in the international practice group at the Zhong Lun Law Firm in Beijing for nearly two years starting in 2011.

Chinese plant from Xi?

You spelled fleshlight wrong

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

With her lack of reading skills, I wonder what she did at university at all.

Canada had a Conservative Party leader who's best lie was he was an insurance broker. He was also a US citizen.

What kind of loser lies about being an insurance broker.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Anthony Scaramucci, I believe your record is about to be broken.

Really not cool unless you’re a rapper.

Katie Zacharia presented herself as a living human. She's not.

She appears to be entirely dead inside, painted orange with 1 mm of make-up, and animated with strings from Trump himself

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Trump misheard her description as a Good Soul Sucking Lawyer. From the rumors going round, there was a missing linking verb, comma, and a plural in there...

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Trump also appointed Coney-Barrett to the supreme Court. While she did pass the bar, she trialed one case.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Color me surprised...lol.. not.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

She looks like that clown I saw on tshirts and coffee mugs at Sam Goody

Katie Zacharia presented herself as human. She's not

Well damn. Could have fooled me! /s
