I’d go to your local police station and show them this. If they don’t seem to care or take it seriously, I’d go to the media next. I bet they’d eat this up.

That and also contact Amazon. Unless they're using prepaid cards and VPNs, it's very likely they can trace it back to the user.

Amazon won’t give you that data without a subpoena. They may decide to take action on their own, but a subpoena will force them to comply.

Could be order fraud. (But not specifically against you.)

One flavor of this is that thieves will steal credit card numbers, place orders and ship the packages to somewhat random places. When amazon makes the delivery, porch pirates will then snag the packages.

This is just one of many kinds of ways to execute fraud (either in the context of the buyer or seller).

If this was actually something you ordered, this should be a police thing. Amazon customer service is shit, so you aren't going to get any movement with them.

Why would they use inhabited residences for this?

If you were going to do this, it would be much better to avoid the risk of the resident getting your package by choosing the address of a vacant/abandoned home or business. Finding those isn't difficult, either -- just do a real estate search and pick any nearby listing where there's no furniture in the listing photos.

The status of the residance doesn't matter depending on the porch pirates/mules and the area. There are so many package thieves in my area, anything remotely coordinated would get lost in the noise. The local police don't have the resources to dig much, so that is another "perk".

You ain't wrong though and there are dozens of ways to do the same thing smarter. I just called out one of many flavors that might remotely apply. (To your point, I used to order pot seeds the same way you described in a state where growing the marijuana was extremely illegal. There was an empty house a couple of blocks down I could use for that stuff.)

It would be less conspicuous to use a made up common sounding name if they were actually planning to pick up the package.

Lol, I'm not jewish and at this point I don't even know where I live so good luck to anybody else finding me. I wonder if you can start a return process?
