For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Elon is the richest human to ever live. His net worth surpasses that of some countries. He's trying to defend Nazi like actions (including the Nazi saute) to strangers on the Internet. He could do so much good in this world, but instead he's a piece of shit.

Hell, he's got enough money to be Batman or Tony Stark at this point.

If it walks like a nazi, talks like a nazi, and fucking seig heils like a nazi... Its probably a nazi.

Nope, no Nazis here!

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago (70 children)

Long before the Nazi salut... Uh... I think about 3 or 4 years before it, I had an argument about Musk with one of my brothers who really likes him.

At that time I had watched a few engineers do the math on all this achievements, only to find out he's hyping up mundane things that already exist.

But most distressingly, he was saying apartheid things, and critiquing the arrest of a fascist who provoked violence.

My brother wasn't convinced.

What surprised me most about the salut was that he did it publicly! Right there out in the open! But besides that it was a full fledged visual proof of what I had been saying already for years. Surely my brother would not be so stu-...

No, I was just on the hate bandwagon. Of course that wasn't a Nazi salut, I just want to see it as one because I enjoy hating Musk. Because hating Musk is the popular thing to do right now.

It's so sad and strange to me that Elon still doesn't understand why people don't like him. Also, he doesn't understand that people don't have to like him either.

I've seen it with CEO types, they are egocentric so don't realize that not everyone wants to be like them, or hold the same beliefs. They prop up their fragile ego with "I'm the best, people want what I have" self talk.

He understands perfectly. He just likes playing the poor oppressed white guy.

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Like most white South Africans I've encountered.

The reason they call him a nazi is because he's a nazi.

You know what, I never clocked before that his fascination with the letter x is probably a substitute for a more infamous symbol. That makes way too much sense.

[–] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Close, but X in ascii code is 88, which is code for HH or heir hitler.

The exact sort of edgy joke he likes.

Remember that he's admitting that people want to kill him. Also remember that right after he did the Nazi Salute on live television, he was suddenly carrying his son around everywhere. A son, that by all accounts, he didn't seem to give too much of a shit about beforehand. He was using that kid as a human shield, folks. Most people wont shoot at a man holding a kid and he knew it.

I hope he's paranoid. I hope every moment of his life is spent in fear of being killed by a stranger. Not the passive, "Someone's out to get me," fear, but real dread. The kind that makes you question the wind that blew across your neck. The kind that makes you wonder if that person you like being around actually likes being around you. The kind that makes you believe that maybe it would be easier to just...

[–] ScissorMeTimbres@thelemmy.club 43 points 4 days ago

I wish that on all billionaires. Their existence is a profane testament to human suffering.

Maybe he would be more popular if he used his money and influence to create a better world. Say what you want about Gates, but that foundation of him and his wife saved tens of millions of lifes. It seems like Musk isn't even trying to create the illusion of using his money for the benefit of society.

Both can be right. I would like Elon Musk easily killed, and believe nobody should feel bad about it. Let's face it, Billionaires are a modern day plague killing us in various ways. As such I want them executed for crimes against humanity, but might settle for every last one of their assets and a vow of poverty enforced by the public.

Still, who would complain about him getting murdered?

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 70 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Team 'both' checking in.

If you decide to act like a Nazi, you should die like a Nazi.

...and if you're a trillionaire, you should die ASAP even if you act like Mr. Rogers - sorry duder but humanity cannot afford you.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 39 points 4 days ago (4 children)

If someone had given Mr. Rogers a trillion dollars we'd be living in that "the future if ****" meme right now.

They call you a Nazi, because you're a Nazi. The murder part is just a bonus.

World's first trillionaire is just as worthless as he's always been.

Why not both?

[–] SalamenceFury@piefed.social 51 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It's not like people ARE murdering Nazis in broad daylight, if anything it's the opposite, and has always been for the past 30 years if not more.
