Welcome to the community of so-called Digital Minimalists! We're community of people who seek for silence in such a noisy world and balance between real and digital worlds. Rules of this community include:

  1. Be honest with yourself and others. Seriously, if you're not honest with yourself and pretend to be someone else, you're not going anywhere. The first step to progression is acceptance, isn't it?
  2. Be polite to others and respects each others opinions. No matter what your thoughts about privacy, Big Tech, politics, nature and etc are, let's keep all discussions family-friendly and not overwhelm ourselves.
  3. Keep it theme-oriented. This community is not made to discuss politics, privacy-issues and climate change. It's about balance and harmony. We could discuss those topics if they are related to Digital Minimalism, but not if they're purely self-oriented. Thank you :)

Recovering mobile game / social media addict here. I’m learning in real time that recovery is not linear. I happened to see a mobile game that seemed pretty interesting. So I downloaded it and allowed myself some time to play, figuring “what’s the harm?”

Well..during the gameplay I noticed that my mind wandered to my CPTSD triggers. Thankfully, before I became overwhelmed, I stopped playing and looked away from my phone. My mind soon relaxed and I was able to compose myself. I immediately deleted the game from my phone.

I’m making an effort to embrace the tech that I grew up with (retro games, CDs, mp3’s, etc) and to get off my smartphone. Now I understand why I feel good when I read a good book, and why I feel like shit when I let my mind wander on social media and mobile games.

I never want to experience that again. No more mobile games for me ever again. I hope this resonates and helps someone today. Please feel free to ask any questions about my digital minimalist journey! 🩷💕
