My city went with a “dedicated rapid transit corridor” aka 1 or 2 new fast isolated (in places) bus lanes that only go to 2 or 3 specific places. Rather than LRT… 😬

Boomers in my city voted against taking a lane from a busy road and building a light rail line, and instead decided to spend 4+ years taking a lane from the same road to build an express bus lane. Which is better than nothing, I guess, except way less capacity than a couple train cars, and the original proposal was for a protected transit corridor so the light rail could just blast through. Estimates for the bus lane are like another 2 years for completion and it's already over budget. A bunch of businesses in the area closed down because work has taken so long.
Narrator: "It's not."
