How do we all feel about the SRL?

Personally, I don't hate it, but feel like money could have been better spent on numerous cheaper projects (like tram/train extentions for interconnectivity, or massively increasing bus frequencies and rationalising bus routes).

But I'm glad for any money to be spent on better public transport, and not more roads.

Also, it's really annoying that they refuse to bifurcate the end of the Upfield line, and even cancelled the turnback planned for Gowrie.

Though, shouldn't be surprised as it was under the LXRP, and those projects mostly benefit drivers.

The conservatives have vowed to scrap it if they come to power, and while they look like a pack of gronks, Labor is very much on the nose, so the next election could be anyone’s.

We're broke, but we blew all the money on rail projects that were actually delivered so I'm not bothered.

We spent more money on roads, I believe :(

North East link, double the price (iirc) than the Metro tunnel

Metro Tunnel 2, city loop reconfiguration and a number of other projects (Melton electrification has been coming now for more than 10 years now lol) unfortunately haven't (yet) come to pass.

I believe we were better of with Labor, than what would have happened under the LNP, but I don't accept that infrastructure spending on public transport vs roads has been ideal.

We'll never solve traffic with more roads, we really ought to maintain the ones we have, and optimise them where we can - but massive enlargements really need to be a thing of the past.

The only solution to traffic are viable alternatives to driving, so the vehicles that actually need to be there (delivery, emergency services, disabled people) can be there with much less traffic.
