Unsurprised that the bid comes from an alumnus of the University of $poiled ¢hildren:

Gustavson, 30, lives in Las Vegas. A graduate of the University of Southern California, he has been involved with the athletic department at his alma mater and helped to develop the Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program there. He continues to work with the USC basketball program and is also involved in the management of his family’s farm, “the country’s premier thoroughbred farm with decades of storied champions throughout the stables.”

I just really don't see the economic viability of another professional sport in Vegas. I know a ton of the revenue from the NFL team is from traveling fans from the away team going to spend a weekend in Vegas. Do they think, A) that MLS fans travel in the same numbers as NFL fans, and B) fans are going to travel to Vegas for a Wed night game? Also, Vegas is having a harder time in today's economy than other cities.

MLS is a small market of MLS fans. Most soccer fans in the US are not MLS fans. If a city does not have a group of hardcore supporters, the team is going to struggle to maintain attendance. That is even more true of a city that relies on tourists for revenue.

Welp, guess I'll just have to be content that the Caps lost the one and only game I saw live to the Quakes...

Sucks though I was looking forward to being an away fan one game a year.

It does suck. I love having Vancouver in the Cascadia Cup. It’s not a Bay Area team, but if you’re looking for a soccer team to attend once a year, there is still the Vancouver Rise

Yeah the Rise even has a supporter's section but it's not accessible, and their accessible seats are in a really crap location.

I'll still go check it out but those are basically the only reasons I don't already have Rise season tickets.

Y'all need to get a proper pyramid system going, just start a damn team in Vegas.

There is a team in Vegas, the Las Vegas Lights. I don’t like their chances to win promotion from USL Championship to the USL Premier League; they’re not a very good team, and their stadium doesn’t meet the league minimum.
