@VladimirLimeMint@lemmygrad.ml Wait really?? Poggie, absurdly poggie. Hope they manage and hope they don't get immediately invaded by the US as a response...

It's going to be bay of pigs 2.0 if they try

[–] LeninZedong@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 month ago

So they are going to fail again? I hope so.

It'd be a weird thing to lie about: "Hey USA, we've just had a breakthrough that means your illegal blockade will gradually lose its effectiveness and our country will never be as vulnerable as it is right this minute. Whatcha gonna do about it?"

I mean it'd be an incredibly selfless way to draw US military aggro away from Iran 🙃

Yeah, if they can become indépendant from US that would be a good news.

Then do not argue on behalf of American capitalism. You refuse to question the empire but the news outlet that has been the sole reason Western leftists like you aware of what is happening in Cuba. Be better for Cuba.

[–] Diurnambu1e@hexbear.net 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

... Okey of guess I am taking heat for a point I do not understand. Sorry or good luck.

[–] VladimirLimeMint@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 month ago

damn México has never been able to figure that out 😭

Would be a great development for them, México oil has always been categorized as low quality due to it being very heavy which has resulted in Pemex exporting it to special refineries in the US specialized in refining heavy dense oil.

[–] VladimirLimeMint@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 month ago

Not exactly low quality, there's more into this than it appears. Central and South America, Caribbean, China and Iranian crude oil are rare mineral heavy which historically has been very difficult to refine, which is why American imperialists favors Gulf vassals for clean crude oil. However as the needs for rare earth manufacturing driven by the material conditions of tech industry competition, these countries are sitting on the resource treasures that could be utilized to alleviate their own inequality and industrialization, but there's only two countries that have this kind of tech, one is China and the other is USA, and the latter is running out of rare earth reserves which is why they're in Venezuela and especially Iran right now. Americans are methodically ruthless empire that stop at nothing until they get their profit, until they get smothered by the indigenous like Iran done to them in Isfahan battle. The map below should explain why.

Here's an articleby TeleSUR that goes into a bit more detail about this development and it's potiental implications.

Thank you comrade

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

is this that russian oil that keeps on poking through the blockade? if so that was really quick.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

No. This is Cuba's own crude oil. https://lemmygrad.ml/post/11446856

Cuba has oil but they were unable to refine it due to its extra heavy characteristics. Now, that has changed according to this news.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 month ago

that somehow makes it more impressive, cubans are an inspiration.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

No, it's more likely their own oil + Mexican. The oil in this region is famously very heavy and difficult to refine, well at least that's what i've been told in Mexico. It's always been the "go to" excuse as to why we send our oil to US refineries and buy the refined products instead of just processing it ourselves.
