My cat had her last remaining teeth removed a few years ago. Until then she regularly had infected gums and needed medication.
After that she rapidly improved and is now spending her medication and tooth free retirement days with my nieces who adore her.

Omg she's so precious!! My boy has been enjoying his toothless years living with my parents where he aggressively gums rats before releasing them for my mother's amusement. I'm not sure which kitty has the better life, tbh. Though if I had to choose, "old cat in house full of by small, beloving children" does seem pretty much like the ideal life regardless of species.

She's an inside cat by choice and now got her own cat friendly door to the balcony so she can bask in the sun if she wants to without being bothered by other beings from outside her realm :D

It's also hard to take pictures of the kids without her being somewhere in the background. All other cats I know would hate being surrounded by toddlers all the time, but she enjoys the attention more than anything.

Absolutely idyllic, what a lucky girl.

Omg your kitty looks more like mine's brother than his actual brother!

Same with my Luna! She had 11 teeth removed over the course of 6 months a few years ago. Resulting in daily bleps, but no tooth problems since then! Still goes hard on the crunchy food tho.

Omfg so cute. You ever go in and boop the blep then try to play innocent at the resulting look of utter contempt they throw your way? Pastime of the gods right there.

Oh absolutely I do. Cannot resist.

Can confirm. That is 100% natural, god-given talent right there.

So wet food only? I'll bet that litterbox a blast to clean lol

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Honestly no, buddy will absolutely demolish a bowl of kibble with his few remaining good teeth.

They just swallow it hole. Teeth were just slowing them down all along.

Friend has a cat with 0 teeth left who has no issues inhaling solid food. Some cats do not care and will go beast mode on any food presented to them!

This is the blep in its purest Form recorded to date!
