Bug Report

Describe the issue:

The text selector is sticky again during comment or edit
Some comment replies do not unroll/expand in profile history.
Not all comments load.
My new comments don't always load until after app reload in profile history.
Votes aren't updated until after app restart. (In profile history)
Strange loading behavior/broken search for piefed instances.
Text selector is un-broken editing this post sometimes.
(Maybe not a bug) I can't sort by new in Connect community.

There are plenty more, and they all are mostly tiny things. A button might not work, comment replies won't unroll, etc. "Major" functions work, but everything around the edges needs polish.

The text selector one is absolute torture.

Could you expand on what you mean by the sticky selector? Also on New sorting for Connect. I have my default sort as New and it seems to work fine for communities, including Connect. As well as the Piefed issues.

It's a reoccurring issue with connect: Move the cursor to edit text somewhere and text selection starts. (Like you would use for cut or copy.) It's random, but when it happens, you can't actually stop the text selection without selecting a bit of text and hitting delete (backspace).

Yeah, I didn't dig into it too much for the sorting by post so I chalked that more up to being a me problem.

I remember that issue now. Not sure I've ran into it myself.

Perhaps, but if you could provide more details on the sorting and Piefed issues, it may be something other users are having as well.

Typically I would go into vast detail about issues, bit all I can say about search is that it's completely broken when searching across some instances that aren't Lemmy. Zero results for communities that are known to exist.

I think the issue I quickly saw with sorting is simply the lack of posts in the Connect community. I see mine, and then from 11 days ago. Refreshing the community will sometimes show different results per refresh. Like I said, it's probably not a bug, BUT similar issues have been tied to post refresh issues in the past.

Also, the text select issue makes it an absolute pain to type out long replies like this or make extensive and detailed bug posts. Once that is fixed, I'll try to resume the detailed bug posts I usually like to make. Simply put, I am not going to fight this issue testing and documenting. That can involve flipping back and forth between testing the steps to replicate the issue and updating a draft post.

But in a nutshell, there are many small issues. I would like to document them all, but I can't without getting seriously frustrated.

I can confirm the sticky text editing issue. Ran into it reporting a different bug. It makes editing any post impossible to do unless you copy all of the text to an external editor then copy it back in to connect.

Actually I think I ran into it just now and the text field became empty. However, because I have save draft enabled, I just backed out and went to reply again and what I typed up was restored. I'll have to pay attention to what happened just before that may be triggering this.

It's a known reoccurring issue. The fix applied in .423 didn't work for it, unfortunately. .423 is still likely the current beta, so I am not quite sure if we are all seeing the exact same problem. (That is confusing, but I am probably seeing a half-patched issue and if you aren't on beta, you are still seeing the original iteration of the bug.)

Ah just finally checked out this area to know it wasn't my device being weird (assumed software since it only happens here). Being a programmer myself, good luck finding it, I mean that honestly cause some issues are such a pain to figure out the root cause and or solution. As someone who never has a good first draft comment I'm definitely looking forward to it. Keeps my random comments down at least. Have noticed some interactions do fix it but haven't exactly figured out the right reliable combo (like making a small edit and moving cursor may make it go away till you leave and come back or something)

Though thanks for the app regardless, tried a few and this one clicked so been using it for awhile now.
