When fascists start distancing themselves from super fascists you know we are heading into a new phase

That’s actually quite normal. Fascists often get along at first because of shared values and maybe similar personalities.

This all falls apart because every dictator puts his own interests before anyone else. Sooner or later those interests clash.

Toxic personalities are also toxic to one another, but they’ll tolerate each other as long as they need to. When one feel like they’ll be just fine without the other, they’ll dump former friends in a heartbeat.

"I'm not here because it's the right thing to do. I'm here because I expect to get something out of it."

The minute the deal doesn't look good, they drop you like a sack of bricks. It happens in ever facet of how they act.

I swear so many people make me feel like a god damn genius at understanding people, yet I've only ever accepted him as a self-important, fraudster, narcissist, serial liar, attention whore that he is and always has been

Why has it been so hard for so many people to see him who he truly is ? Did they really think they could win the guy who flip flops hourly with some fancy trinkets?

It makes me think that Europe has been so reluctant to leave the relationship because America really was treating them too nicely

Europe being reluctant has nothing to do with Trump. Every leader saw right through that narcissistic moron the moment he appeared on the scene. It is more a question of Europe separating itself from an economic and military ally of 90 years. It is a political and economical infrastructure that needs a complete overhaul, and it is not something that is done overnight.

Of course there is the added problem for these right wing leaders like Meloni, of them having been very positive of Trump ideologically speaking in the past, which they now need to extricate themselves from without people remembering how fascist they really are.

When Benito Mussolini's granddaughter leaves your party for being too right wing, you may have a problem.

Yep, for say 30 years Windows has been fine. Then it seems it went speed run to the bottom of being absolutely garbage as a company and morally. So now the EU has to uncouple itself but takes time to undo that kind of mashup.

Meloni is a populist, so she windsocks with public opinion.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 months ago

Meloni is literally a Fascist. But one who just lost a power-grab judicial "reform" referendum, so she's had to make a tactical retreat from some steps in the usual fasc playbook.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 months ago

Paywalled.

She has really expressive eyes.

Sounds like the sort of Epstein explanation. She didn't do as he expected, so it's her fault.
