I cheered on LiMux and various follow-on programs in Europe in the early 2000s, but became despondent as Microsoft moved back in and I thought the war was lost. But I see now that you have to still keep trying as even if you lose that battle, each foray makes it easier to follow up with future efforts.

So far, it's only really France. Here in the UK, I don't think anyone other than typical Linux users would be aware. Mind you, Britain is always reminded by the US of our special friendship.
