Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Gunzilla Games has had a few layoffs over the last year or so due to financial difficulties, after its title ‘Off the Grid’, a free-to-play Battle Royale game supported by NFT’s has seemingly not hit the player numbers Gunzilla Games were hoping for.

Seems like an all around great company

supported by NFT’s

Wow, I wonder why they're having a hard time paying their staff?

And it’s hard to have sympathy for someone who takes and keeps a job at a company that has NFTs as part of their business plan. “Red flag” doesn’t begin to describe what a huge warning that is to stay the fuck away.

Still. It's not the employee's fault the leadership is full of absolute morons that don't understand employment laws.

Wages are the first thing you pay if you're not a complete shitstain of a human being for a reason.

A missed sales window should not be the immediate and direct cause of dropped paychecks. That strikes me as extreme financial insolvency.

But hey, I suppose I’m preaching to the choir there.

I'm sorry but getting no pay for months? I'd be out after the 2nd missed check and grab a lawyer.

[–] iamtherealwalrus@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why wait for 2nd missed? First time the pay is not in my bank account on the due date, I no longer work for the company.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I say 2nd because there are legitimate mistakes that can happen. Software errors do happen and I've had a missed check, but the company had it resubmitted and in my bank 2 days later .

[–] iamtherealwalrus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

While I can appreciate mistakes happen, I have bills to pay and any delays in payment will result in fees that I have to pay out of pocket.

Exactly this. There was a pretty infamous outage in 2024 and a couple smaller ones in 2023. I don't think I know a single working adult that hasn't had at least one payroll delay for some stupid reasoning. I helped someone troubleshoot an issue that caused all of peoples second paychecks to be delayed. During onboarding they'd tell people to expect a delay in their 2nd paycheck and people just never complained for years. Banking is such a fragile part of infrastructure. It's strange to imagine someone quitting the second the paycheck didn't hit their account. I'm anti capitalist as hell and companies are not your family etc etc, but at least make a phone call or something first.

Didn't they acquire game informer? Does this affect them too?

Quitting would mean they won't get paid at all. No?

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So you'd choose to work for nothing instead?

Protesting might help you get the full salary. Luckily, this never happened to me. But if it did, then yes, I would leave within the first month.
