Improved streaming quality and connection stability for an app like this can actually be pretty meaningful, so I figured it was worth sharing.

Excellent! It already worked really well. I played all of Miles Morales using it.

If you have a PS5 and a Linux machine, Chiaki is amazing. Thanks for sharing the update news!

Does it support party chat, or microphones?

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 months ago

I believe so, but the mic is muted by default. You can set a back button to ctrl+m to toggle the mute I believe.

Is it better than the official streaming software?

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

This is for streaming from a PlayStation to the Steam Deck, there is no SteamOS compatible official streaming software.

It also has a Windows artifact and in any case one could still compare it to the official software, no matter where this runs. I'm not happy with the Sony app so this might be a better alternative.

I'm not sure. However, I can say that I got a PS Portal when it went on sale s few months back, and the quality on that thing blows chiaki out of the water. It's also nice having all the Dual Sense features built in. Haven't used my deck to stream PS5 since.

That was before this update though so maybe now it's on par
