One environmental group director described the move as “a costly bureaucratic reshuffle” that will put more power in the hands of corporations and states to log, mine and drill public lands.

President Donald Trump’s administration will move the U.S. Forest Service headquarters out of the nation’s capital to Salt Lake City as part of an organizational overhaul that involves shuttering research facilities in 31 states and concentrating resources in the West, the agency announced Tuesday.

Moving the Forest Service to Utah is like moving the Coast Guard to Utah.

"In the West" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Utah has fuck all to do with forestry. Probably chosen due to lobbying and/or trying to choose a place as unpopular with forestry types as possible to criple the agency.

Exactly im sure the buildings they rent will be owned by trump donors

Also for being ultra conservative. They vote like 70% republican or something, highest in the country last I checked. They claim to disagree with the president but their votes give lie to their disagreement.

Utah has 3 incredible national parks (cannot recommend Canyonlands enough) and is a good (not great) place for the forest service if they have to move out of DC.

It's really not. Or state government has been doing everything it can to reduce, sell, and otherwise get rid of public land. The governor is a dick sucking cuck for little don and we have a supermajority repulitard government that has been doing all it can to tear everything down. Look at the mess with bears ear national monument. Not only that, but we have a huge amount of public land, and only 11% of it is forestry land. Far less then most of the surrounding states.

Yes their campaign to extirpate endangered species speaks to their stewardship of the environment! /s

I’m curious to watch how the privatization of public lands plays out in the West. The libertarians and party first conservatives voted for Mr. New York City, they aren’t going to be happy when he sells off the land their cattle graze on to his buddies, sells their water to his tech bros to cool their data centers, and some fuckwad from Texas buys up all the prime hunting units but never visits. They’re already flabbergasted that ICE stole their labor force, they were supposed to take someone else’s labor force!

They'll just blame it on their usual suspects.

You have to remember these are people of the land.

You know...

Thanks Obama

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

We could pay off our national debt selling these lands off (not advocating this). But instead we will practically give it away to wealthy people so they can develop or sell it. Another theft in the making.

November 2024. We could have avoided all this.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

July 2024 you could have avoided it. You still don't get it huh?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Still don't get that a bunch of ignorant shitheads decided trump was the way to go? No. No I do not.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works -3 points 3 months ago (2 children)

We knew these dems couldn't win, and chose them anyway. How many times now? And it's everyone else's fault? Take some responsibility, if you aren't helping get electable candidates you are the fucking problem.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Political mastermind eh? Got it all figured out do ya. Well tell us then, who’ll win in 2028?

Wait lemme guess - someone terrible.

Another shit take from someone living in the colon of the billionaires, telling us to trust the democratic establishment. Safe from pain, truth, choice, other poison devils, saying they don't give a fuck about you, like you do.

Here's my source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giaZnIr-faM

It might feel warm and safe up there in the billionaires' colon, but there is no future going further up, back straight out and join us in the elements!

Another non-answer gish gallop from another pinheaded fuckwit who can’t figure out the one thing they could have done to prevent the worst human in history from destroying everything.

No answers, no plan, no ideas, no names- nothing. Hopeless blather and ignorant self-righteous bullshit preventing any forward motion. Only and ever.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

So where’s all the electable candidates that you’ve scraped together? Or are you also ‘the fucking problem’?

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Like I'm going to tell the enemy.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Oh you're REALLY stupid then. Jesus

Harris was bad but perfectly electable, but you dipshits decided she wasn't perfect enough. Own your fuck up and grow as a person

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 months ago

She was the most unpopular possible choice. Jesus christ, are you a person or a fucking republican agent manipulating us into failing again?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

Ha.

Good luck landfire crew!
