For those that seek a future that brings together the best of the insights and objectives of people who, within the social democratic and democratic socialist traditions, have worked through farmer, labour, co-operative, feminist, human rights and environmental movements, and with First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, to build a more just, equal, and sustainable Canada within a global community dedicated to the same goals.

This community is not managed by NDP staff.

I would be sooooo curious to see how things panned out if he won the federal election.

I don't know if Avi will lead the NDP to relevance but he's at least pulling the party in the correct direction policy wise.

Anyone who says "national grocery store" has my vote. Imagine the purchasing power and the removal of all business middlemen. Prices would plummet. The citizens owning their own stuff nationally is a good place to start fighting the uncontrollable monster that capitalism has become.

Stock values would plummet. Stock values of the exact corporations that have spent 50 years practicing regulatory capture. This is something that will NEVER come from government. It is something we can only have if we build it outside government as a co-op.

But it seems even less likely that a co-op of at most a few percent of the population can prevent itself from being run out by those same entrenched interests.

I get what you are saying. Any major change will affect the status quo. I want to change the status quo. Do "stocks" even mean anything anymore now that the market is so manipulated? We need a better system, starting with owning our own stuff again. We need the government to be the people again not have a mindset like "this is something that will never come from the government". We are the government.

A good case study is the CRTC. We have the worst communication fees of any developed nation, despite having donated Nortel to the world (...), specifically because the CRTC is a plaything of the communications cartel. This has been notoriously ongoing for decades and only gets monotonically worse. If you know what to do about this situation, I'm game.
