Not true! They also get a movement bonus, if the movement is away from Ohio.

As a former Ohioan, it is a lovely place to visit. Visit.

As a current Ohio resident.......ehhhhh......

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

I hope you recover from your condition

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

There's so much cool stuff in ohio. Its a shame it fucking sucks to live there. Fortunately I no longer do

Michael Collins (the guy in the command module that flew around the moon for Apollo 11) spent part of his childhood in Ohio, meaning he is the person who lived in ohio and was able to acheive being the farthest distance away from it.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 4 points 10 months ago

oooh nice I was going to say Neil Armstrong but obv. the module in orbit was flying further away than the surface of the moon.

Plus, it's well-known that Armstrong's first words on stepping on the barren surface of the moon were: "Looks like Cleveland on a Saturday night." lmao gottem.

Ohio produces more astronauts per capita than any other state including two of the most notable: John Glenn (who also fled ohio to go to the senate) and Niel Armstrong.

They also get the "world's worst pizza style" debuff thanks to Ohio Valley pizza.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hey, it is bad, but the worst pizza is Altoona style. Also since both of these are associated with Pennsylvania let's just acknowledge they have awful pizza.

Also I'll die on the hill of Dayton-style pizza being the best in the country.

[–] HBK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I would kill for some Marion's right now. The pizza would give me a heart attack but that's the way I wanna go.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Oh gods I haven't had Marions in years. It was my childhood special occasion food. As an adult I leaned towards cassanos. Fuck. I need to learn to home cook Dayton style pizza and subject my non daytonians to it. Or accept that donatos is pretty close

Wtf, this should be a warning on travel advisories.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 10 months ago

It's high school cafeteria pizza that never even got hot enough to melt the cheese!

Truly Ohio is a curse unto the world

ALL sports teams feels like a stretch. When's the last time a Cleveland Browns fan had any hope?

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hey no fair. Browns fans always have hope for next year.

[–] CuriousRefugee@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm a Browns fan, and wholeheartedly agree. Idiotic blind optimism, even when the team does stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid,...*checks notes...stupid things.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

How bout that Deshawn Watson signing, eh?? Eh????

Sorry. Sorry. Even as a joke I can't condone supporting a rapist.

[–] CuriousRefugee@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 10 months ago

I was one of the few people I knew who was furious about him. I wasn't hoping he would fail ON the field, (because Browns) but I thought he probably would. Not particularly glad, but it is also a pretty ignominious chapter of the team. I tried to cheer for the defense as much as possible

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Rebellions are built on hope.

[–] undefinedValue@programming.dev 4 points 10 months ago

They should also get a debuff whenever a train derails..

[–] kozy138@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

I'm pretty sure there is also a passive bonus to music creation.

So many good bands come from Ohio for some reason. Although that reason is probably so they can go on a tour out of state.
