I can't even remember much of it but I have a baby and this book just sprang to mind

Do you remember the experiments in it? I remember it had like a pouch of some chemical or something

Only vaguely, but I do remember that pouch. It had a bunch of sodium acetate in it, which could stay in a supercooled liquid state until you click the little metal button that starts it crystalizing, making the whole pouch go solid and heat up over 30s or so. The pouch could later be reset by immersing it in boiling water to re-liquify the crystals, and so long as they all melt it'll stay liquid as it cools.
