Probably intended to be talked about by the press for free advertising.

Or, he just doesnt care about showing respect in a court room.

How often do these people wearing these forget they have them on and recording when they go to the bathroom? If they are livestreaming, are they giving an unintentional live porn show?

It's the former, and smart.

Who wants to wear a Ring doorbell camera on your face?

I cant even believe people buy those Alexa listening devices into their homes... Why are they trusting big tech?

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city 0 points 2 months ago (3 children)

To be fair, they're quite convenient. I had one when I was living with my parents.

That said, they're not so convenient that I died when I stopped using them after moving out. The only thing I miss now is having a device to cast Spotify to. I wish they made a House Thing.

Nothing a normal wireless speaker won’t do ( the spotify part not the spying on you part )

I have a friend who uses Home Assistant for everything, with a huge devops lab at home connected to various sensors. Seemed very professional.

The Home Assistant community is working to build the local assistant which includes audio output. You can then play music from Music Assistant which allows connection to other streaming platforms.

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That would be perfect! Is the project called Home Assistant?

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago

Yea you can run Music Assistant without HA but then you might as well get the home automation benefits.

There are AirPlay and Chromecast devices you can get that will do that part. I have castable speakers in every room and not one of them also has a microphone or requires an app.

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city 0 points 2 months ago

Do they connect to the internet as well so that they can be independent speakers that your Spotify account can cast to?

You either die a start up or live long enough to see yourself become Google.

Like children with money. Lots of money.

Oh, that judge SCOLDED him so bad. Just wait until she SLAMS him. She might even BLAST him.

Probably won't hold him accountable though.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There is a difference. When the judge is scolding someone, they're talking to them, not about them.

[–] Blueliner@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Yeah, that's true. Not really my point though. My point is that unless you hold him accountable, it's just grandstanding.

[–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Probably won't hold him accountable though.

in theory, that would depend on the legal merits of the case moreso than his conduct in the courtroom - but in the american legal system, it's famously a bad idea to get on the bad side of a judge, especially one who's actively judging you.

it's not a bad fight to pick but it's a weird place to pick it
