I spent about 2 days and all night with Google AI trying to get this highly recommended NVIDIA RTX 5050 card installed so I could use it with Blender and it finally gave up on me.
I have a Gateway PC.

It said that the card is "So new that the manufacturer hasn't come up with a working driver yet" and to check back in a few weeks maybe. Surely it can't be serious? How can NVIDIA sell graphics cards without a working driver. I spent over $200 on this card :(. Thank god I managed to get my system working again, it almost broke my Blender installation but found a workaround to get it back, but its as slow as ever. I'm stuck with this card and it refuses to run.

The Catch-22 is that it apparently will only run on the latest graphics driver that "just came out this week" but you can't install it with the graphics card inserted, and you can't install it with it not inserted. It freezes forever at loading Ramdisk. All the earlier drivers won't run it either. Wondering if anyone else has bought this card and if it worked.

Of course I have a older system, not incredibly old but dated. I wanted to upgrade my graphics card instead of buying a whole new PC. Thats where spending $200 sounded smart to avoid spending a lot more on a new PC right. Its hugely disappointing. Thanks for any help or experiences.

Assume you've checked the obvious things..

Reseated. That you have enough pci lanes, compatible moba, etc?

Because yes, even now it should work. This doesn't sound like a driver issue. Sounds like either a bad card or bad install.

You're saying Google AI doesn't know what its doing? Of course its fully seated, I've had to seat and unseat it about 30 times during all the testing the last 3 days. I don't think your reply is serious. Yes I noticed the downvote. I hope that Lemmy World is not as ignorant and childish as Reddit, or I'm leaving my new subscription here faster than a bat out of hell

Ok you reseated. We gotta get the idiot shit out of the way first because you the dumbass without a working gpu right now not me.

You reseated it. Heard it click. Gave it a wiggle? Is the power connector in correctly and clicks into place? If it's modular is the other end of the cable clicked in and you confirmed it?

Which slot is it in? Top slot? Did you double check the number of lanes? Is the GPU lighting up?

When you plug your monitor in are you getting frames or just nothing?

Ignorant and childish my ass you out here the one without a working GPU.

Does it display anything at all? All GPUs are supposed to work (albeit suboptimally) with a generic driver that should already be installed on your system.
