I'm reading a number of books rn actually but 3 of them have to do with eachother. For fun I am reading a collection of Lovecraft's writing but for learning I am reading Prescott's History of the Conquest of Mexico and Peru, Bernal Diaz's Conquest of New Spain, and BartolomΓ© De Las Casas' A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies. Both of the latter are cited by Prescott here and there, I read them for added context. My hatred for Cortez grows by the minute
Books
For all books - fiction and non-fiction.
Likely that you're familiar already, but you'd probably also be interested in Eduardo Galeano's Open Veins of Latin America.
I wasn't familiar actually. On my list now, thank you

I'm currently reading black shirts and reds and have recently finished left communism. Both are insanely good.
Black shirts and reds single handedly made me a communist
Its a tough read if youre already red and have emoathy. The senseless loss of life, the endless hypocrisy and the danger of left wing communism is staggering.
That said, I really grit my teeth at his "critique" of stalin.
