Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Eton College is better known for princes and prime ministers than iPads but every new boy at the school is now handed one – and much of their work depends on it.

For Isaac’s* 13-year-old son that became a problem after he developed a screen addiction and a psychologist advised him to stay away from online devices. When he asked to hand back the iPad and return to pen and paper, Eton refused.

He was not alone. More than 100 Eton parents backed a letter in 2024 warning of “clear evidence of harm to a significant number of boys in the school’s care due to screen addiction”, we can reveal. The letter, which has not previously been made public, said families who wanted their sons to stop using the school-issued devices had no way to opt out.
