Hello fellow Far Side fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.

The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist). Its surrealistic humor is often based on uncomfortable social situations, improbable events, an anthropomorphic view of the world, logical fallacies, impending bizarre disasters, (often twisted) references to proverbs, or the search for meaning in life… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Far_Side

Hope you enjoy and feel free to contribute to the community with art, cool stuff about the author, tattoos, toys and anything else, as long it’s The Far Side!

In my differential equations class my friend went to hand in his test, he goes to put it face down on the pile and only then noticed there was a backside to the page.

I’ll never forget the look on his face, but also, he was a good student and super honest guy, so the prof took pity and he passed the class.

That prof was kind of a dick, he basically treated the undergrad class as a pipeline to find grad students, so he’d throw a ton of stuff he hadn’t taught you on to the tests to see who he was interested in. The classes were just examples on the blackboard for the whole class too.

I got a decent grade, but he failed to teach me a strong intuition and so much of that knowledge is lost.

I’m still proud of some of the tricks I came up with during the tests though — there was a lot of “I don’t have a calculator, these are incredibly annoying numbers, either he hates us or there a trick” moments… and there usually was some trick that you just had to figure out live on your final test worth 60% of your grade.

My professors just told kids to drop out of the class that they were required to pass and when I called them out they said they don't like or understand people.

Oh was I supposed to share a funny little anecdote about how I survived the orphan crushing machine? My bad.

I did mention that prof was a dick.

I’m proud of stuff I figured out while being challenged, but that was in my own and most other people’s opinions one of the worst classes in the program.
