I bought an rgb MMO mouse with 12 buttons on the side, and a double click near the left click for $5 from AliExpress like 13 years ago... no software, has always worked and never failed me.
I've bought 2 Corsair nice, 3 razor mice during that timeframe...all failed, all needed software. all cost $70 or more...
I refuse to buy name brand crap as a result...I bought another identical mouse as a potential backup to the cheap Chinese one. cost increased from $5 to $45. still works better then any 'name brand' crap. I have w cheap Chinese things now that will almost guaranteed last me another 10 years.
I once bought a cheap 3-5€ mouse on aliexpress. That thing lasted ages, and it never missed a beat until it finally broke. And when it did break, the scrollwheel still worked, and it's usually the first thing to break on cheap mice.
It probably helped that the mouse had no stupid rubber that disintegrates in 1 year of use.
It wasn't even a bad mouse. It was lightweight and it had high DPI and a good sensor.
I've never managed to make another mouse last as long, and like you, I've spent close to 100€ on singular mice, which also needed their own crappy software running in the background to work.
