Ive a similar perspective and I live with multiple neurodivergent people in my house. It seems like a visceral reaction that doesn't even make it to the brain. Just like your hand jerks back if you touch something hot, they immediately gag or cough or itch or whatever.
They ate or touched one thing one time, decided they didn't like it, and now their limbic system protects them from anything similar to it.
It seems to be mostly food and clothing. I can't tell the difference between these two cotton shirts but they will have a long conversation about how one in great and the other is horrible.
My parents would have been SO resistant to anything like that. I'm not neurodivergent (not diagnosed, anyway), but I had some food issues as a kid. There were certain things I was NEVER going to eat, no matter how hungry I got, no matter how much punishment I got, mostly vegetables.
As an adult, I got into gardening, and that got me eating a few more vegetables, but I still won't go near onions or green peppers, and quite a few other things.
I probably could use some testing.
Pretend we have intuitive fung sui magic mixed up with our senses 😂🤷🏻♀️💜
