Not to defend them too much but I'd assume that a lot of the employees are just trying to make a living. The department I'm working at was recently taken over and I have a mortgage and a kid so even if I morally disagree with some of the practices of my new employer I can't just quit without uprooting the lives of my family.

It's the same for the majority of workers stuck in big corporate jobs. The capitalist orphan crushing machine will crush all in the end. Not just the orphans.

No single drop considers itself responsible for the flood.

That may be true for you, but it's far from universally true. I have changed jobs several times (maintaining my industry) without even moving or uprooting anything for my family. I would wager most actually have viable alternative options without moving.

i love these down votes against pointing out the irrationality of the narrative that you must uppend your entire life to stop being an asshole.

and that's despite the common knowledge that there's a better chance at higher pay if you switch jobs. lol

Especially in tech. It's not a coal mine, tech companies don't prosper on their own.

I've moved around a few times because I didn't like the direction the company I worked for was heading. I didn't have a plan when I moved, but each time I got a good raise.

People don't because it requires effort and it can be scary.

I left my job over moral objections coming up on a year ago. Hundreds of interviews later, still unemployed. I don’t regret my decision, but I’m lucky enough to have a support system. Otherwise, I’d be out of luck.
