She looked AWFUL a year ago. She was so underweight and weak that she was going to die if I didn't get her living conditions and diet changed immediately. Moved her to a new barn and got her on some good feed and increased her supplements and she's back to great health now. Took so much, sweat, tears, money, and a little blood to get her in good condition. My profile has her whole saga going back like 2 years
I'm sorry your dad had to get rid of his horse. It's never easy.
Yeah I saw many of your posts, just didn't know sandy was that old.
Long story short, he had a champion breed and champion black stallion which he cared for from birth. He ended up going to Vietnam war, told my grandmother to "check up" on it occasionally but the stable would do all the day to day work for it. His plan was to come home and breed it for income.
One day my grandmother was there making sure it was OK and the horse kicked the bucket. No, that's not a euphanism it literally just kicked a bucket. My grandmother claimed it was aggressive and got it neutured. My father got back, loving reunion at airport, next day he goes to check on the horse and finds out what happened. The next time he talked to my grandmother, his mother was 1983 when my mother forced him to call and tell her she was going to be a grandmother as my mother was pregnant with my sister.
Another fun fact... He was literally an elephant trainer but then one day couldn't open his eyes to see. Overnight developed an allergy to hay and had to change entire job industry.
