Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.

Hello, maybe it's out of scope of this community, but it's an haunting question i can't answer and i hope someone could do it for me: what's the logic behind the reasoning of Jenner about the trans cause? It seems that she zigzags permanently in this subject. She in turn:

-a misaimed transactivist

-a boomrang bigot

-disinteresed of transactivism

-asking seemingly deliberately to leopards to eat her face

-whining when it happens but still loyal to the said leopards

-advocating for the said leopards going vegan

I don't get the logic behind her reasoning since it's not remotely consistent (outside her endorsement to the GOP), it's worse than people who are stubborn about their opinions, who are at least coherent with themselves.

So in order to understand her you need to understand three things about her: First, she's a lifelong republican mostly concerned with the economic side, but party affiliation is important to her personal identity and social world. Second, she's trans and tried to suppress it then hide her transition as long as she could until she was outed by the media. Third, she isn't very bright and is absolutely incurious.

In shithole America we set our scene. It's 2015, Laverne Cox has charmed the country and trans rights are starting to be something people care about. But also tabloids have been asking of Jenner is trans, because girl was married to the Kardashian mom and was not hiding it super well. So she hosts a press conference and comes out. This is both the first time a lot of the viewers have ever seen a trans person talk about their own experiences and identity and it's also a shitshow. Like, I was coming out as trans at the time and I distinctly remember hearing that she claimed she was still straight, she liked women. Yeah, girl that's gay now, thanks for making me have to correct you to my aunt…

And from there she attempted to start a TV show about trans lives and experiences focusing on her transition but getting several trans activists and actresses on it as well. This went, poorly. Our community has a variety of very real, material, and social struggles. We tend to lack family support (and the ability to rely on family in bad times), we face (and especially back then when we rarely were included in nondiscrimination laws) quite a bit of employment discrimination, forcing many of us into sex work, we face increased rates of intimate partner violence, increased rates of poverty, a pay gap even below cis women… And Jenner just kinda didn't care. This is where you get stuff like the infamous quote about the hardest part of womanhood for her being picking clothes. Oh also it became increasingly clear she was very homophobic but with cognitive dissonance. As far as she was concerned she was rich and didn't have to draw attention to poor people problems or even the poor people variants of difficulties she had.

And so the trans community rapidly abandoned hope that she might increase understanding and respect for us and the real struggles our community faced. And she kinda became the textbook example of who not to be for trans people often compared to folks like Chaz Bono or Laverne Cox. We kinda really fucking hated her tbh.

But then 2016 rolls around, Trump isn't being openly hateful to queer people, he's even said that she could use the women's room in his properties. So she joins in, she starts repeating the wedge talking points of the transphobes who don't want to feel bigoted, just concerned. And from there it becomes an endless cycle of her trying to convince her friends and political sphere to relent on this one issue, and for them to see that there are "good ones" who will take concessions and not rock the boat, but never getting anything out of it. The alternative is to accept that even a rich trans person isn't in the rich class, not really, and that her true material interests lie not with her friends but with the people who'd been calling her out and trying to convince her to learn about her people's struggles.

So yeah she thinks that she can get the world to see her as a rich person who happens to be trans, and refuses to see that the world just sees her as a tranny with a lot of money, and the ones who think that the latter is fine dislike her for her actions and beliefs.
