Interesting. Mine was definitely not that cheap. But, fun. Zero issues & smooth. Will try again. Hope I can get one from my current brewery location to the airport.

I think the safer thing to do would have been to inform the authorities and the rideshare app people. You basically covered for him and ensured that he can just keep doing it some other time.
