Hi all!

TL;DR We now collect donations directly. You can donate to Lemmy.nz's server costs here: https://buymeacoffee.com/lemmynz

This page was rewritten on 11/5/2025 as NZ Fedi Services are stepping away from hosting Mastodon.nz, Pixelfed, and some others, and because we piggyback on their hosting we may need to rent our own server. They have stopped accepting donations, so I have set up a page to take donations while we work out where we will host in future.

You can now donate to Lemmy.nz here: https://buymeacoffee.com/lemmynz

If making the donation will materially affect you, PLEASE DON'T DONATE! Lemmy.nz is not going to die if you don't donate. Please only donate if you have plenty of money, but if you can donate on a regular basis without it materially affecting you, then please consider a regular donation.

Also, it's only a "donation" in the loosest form of the word. It's not a tax deductible donation as we aren't registered as a charity or approved donee organisation. It is simply a contribution to the costs of running Lemmy.nz.

It's hard to guess at costs since we have been piggybacking on other hosting, and would probably move to using object storage for images which is much cheaper than local hard drives. I'm hoping to keep it to around $50(NZD) a month, though. We could probably get away with less but this would have a performance impact.

Is there a way to contribute without using a credit card?

Direct bank transfer is preferred.
