95% of the shit in the settings menu just launches the old .cpl link anyways. It's so fucking useless

It's a link to a control panel file. All the settings menu does for most settings is launch them. These have been around since Windows 95 or earlier.

I'm not so sure about that, because if that's all it did I could more easily stomach the Settings app. It just takes you to a half-assed, water down page that may or may not work. I remember one time I was trying to change DNS settings from within the settings app. I did it multiple times but still nothing worked. Eventually I went into the adapter settings like a sane person and sure enough... the old DNS servers were there. Went back to Windows settings and it still said the new ones. There was only one network adapter. So what was I changing? Fuck you, that's what.

It absolutely astounds me how a corporation the size of Microsoft can constantly screw things like that up. This was pre-vibe coding. It's like they only had 4 part-timers and 1 intern working on Windows.

Fuck, I could complain about Microsoft all day.
