Solitary Confinement

The United Nations Committee Against Torture cited use of solitary confinement in the United States as excessive and a violation of the Convention Against Torture in 2014.[95]

That was one of the contributing factors to my career switch as well; software engineers tend to be reactionary (anecdotally) and the only time you can get a response out of them is if they think the status quo is imperiled somehow.
