So far I've been using an old smartphone but the snooze function is unreliable, i.e. it stops at some point and there's no way to just slap it to make it snooze.

So that is one very important feature.

It also must have an option to be completely dark, preferably slap it to light the clock for a few seconds.

And a choice of soft/rising alarm tones or preferably even upload own audio files.

And not constantly connected to a power outlet.

That's very specific but I'm willing to spend some money on it. It doesn't necessarily have to be manufactured in Europe, but that's where I will order it.

Thanks! It looks pretty good and isn't even expensive. Ticks all my boxes, except for a choice of audio files.

Are you happy with the "crescendo beeping"?

Does it beep endlessly or does it go into snooze functionality after some time? Is the snooze 100% reliable?

My impulse for writing this post was that once again, my alarm clock just gave up after a while, maybe after 3 snoozes? IDK. It's not the battery.

The beeping makes you get out of bed, if you touch the upper button it snoozes for ten minutes. My wife and I both have one, gets the job done.
