You're studying Education as well? I've felt the same. I know the theory behind stuff but NFI on how to actually teach. Placements aren't long enough.

I agree. A term in the classroom all up isn't long enough. I'm a fan of the apprenticeship-based model that's come out recently, but I think it should be extended to primary.

I taught anatomy for a year with only my Health Science degree, no education training. It was TAFE, my biggest tip was to let the students who don't care slip through the cracks. Management hated it because they want that money but help the kids that want to be there.

That's pretty cool. Do you use anatomy in your job now?

There is only so much you can do for people.

Nope, somewhere between unemployed, retired and lean-fire at the moment. I'm pretty lost in my career, I'm just getting back on my feet health wise, so I'm dealing with one thing at a time. Working as a therapist, I struggled with the ethical aspect of selling healthcare. In particular advising people to come back for another session because it would be better for my wallet. I really like labour work but I'm getting on so I reckon I'll sort my NDIS tickets and work in that field for now. I'm privileged to not be under financial pressure but a lot of that comes from living super frugally.

Yep. It should be an apprenticeship, or hybrid. Maybe 2 years theory, 2 years apprenticeship, or 3/1. I'm hoping to get a job as a TA next year to get some classroom experience before I graduate (sometime in 2027 I hope)
