Italy has coffee stained with milk which I think is about the same thing
They also have milk stained with coffee, for children, I think
Macchiato is Italian for stained
Macchiato Latte is Italian for milk stained
Pretty popular in Cafés and restaurants in Aus, anybody who knows their way around a coffee machine will know this by name.
I think the variants of 'macchiato topped up' or 'macchiato 3/4 full' are Australian.
Edit: I suppose Australia's equivalent for the kids is a babycino. No coffee, chocolate milk instead.
I'm guessing you're in Perth. Very popular over there, but not so much elsewhere in Australia. Though there are similar strength drinks like Melbourne's magic.
Haha, yeah i forget some things are more Perth specific. Never heard of Melbourne's Magic, is that the name of a coffee?
Yeah a magic is a double ristretto, topped up to about 3/4 of a flat white. It’s been spreading in popularity outside of Melbourne, and coffee shops in Sydney (where I live) make them too.
Another great Perth thing is the Conti roll. It’s a damn shame that hasn’t spread to the rest of the country.
Wow! That sounds strong, i see what you mean, its similar to the long Mac in some ways.
Conti rolls are another great example of that, i almost mentioned them this morning as well.
