Cor blimey, it's January already! They tell me this is a special, seeing as it's our 5th birthday bonanza. Where has the time gone eh? Not been wasted on those other 8-bit machines I TELL THEE! We've got another free tape this month for all yer Speccy owners, and a free badge, if you can work out which one of them pop stars was engaged to a Five Star girly. Get those coupons filled in, I wanna see some correct answers.

And if you're stuck inside because it's freezing, then you can curl up and read the bumper reviews. Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Dragon Breed... and of course, some complete rubbish too. Well, not if I'm giving 'em away in the Superstore, mind. Now, off you pop - and tell your friends, the Spectrum's still the bestest!

Ooh, hello there, my little cherubs! Aunty Madge has been having a gander at these Red Boxes, and cor, what a marvel! Why settle for just playing Manic Miner when your Speccy can stop daylight robberies, eh? They've even got code words on ‘em – like a secret agent's lair it is.

For only one hundred and twenty-nine smackers, you can have your humble Spectrum bossing the kettle and toaster when Dan Dare is on the telly! It’s just the ticket for a lazy Sunday. Tell you what, though, don’t go fitting any Commodore clobber in your Speccy set-up, that’s just asking for trouble, that is. Now where's my crimplene shopping bag. I'm off for a gin! Toodle-pip!
