Edit: to clarify, I also read that there were no other options in the US for contactless payment but there's service or services popping up in Europe, so maybe it's for those services and I have answered my own question?

GSPLUS seems pretty cool at first, and I can download a .hdv image of a hard drive and run lots of GS stuff, but I cannot run Wizardry: Proving Ground of the Mad Overlord. If you use the F4 menu to put it (BOOT.DSK, 143kb) in the appropriate slot (S6D1) the "check startup device" screen appears. (coincidentally the Wizardry manual does not contain any instructions that I see, there's no LOAD "*",8,1 or anything like that) I can also boot into PRODOS8 and try PREFIX,S6,D1 or whatever to no avail. No earlier version of PRODOS boots in this emulator either.

I know this is something I'm doing wrong because the same image boots just fine in AppleWin which I built in arch. I don't understand why this doesn't work; most internet resources confidently state that you can jam an Apple ][ game into a 5.25" drive on a IIGS and boot it happily. Not so with GSPLUS. Is it not at all capable of running Apple ][ games? Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: As a comedy bonus, if I take the same BOOT.DSK and fire it into the version of GSPLUS in Batocera, it boots the game fine there. Incredible stuff. As a bonus it won't get past the title screen, but that is probably a Batocera thing.

EDIT 2: No progress on standalone GSPLUS but both Mame (in r*troarch and standalone) as well as the libretro GSPLUS core will boot Wizardry if the disk is read-only, both in the computer's file system and in the emulator. Amazing.

The human-car gestalt, for example, experiences life and has opinions that are quite different from the human-bicycle gestalt, the human-train gestalt or even the bare human with no mode of transportation. What's possible and what's desirable for a driver is pretty radically different even to what's possible or desirable for the same human outside of a car: in individual instances of this happening, we call it road rage, and on a policy scale it leads to things like people getting extremely angry about bike lanes even when said bike lanes would benefit them at all times when they're not in their car. The human-car gestalt has interests and opinions that are separate from the human in the gestalt, often opposed to them and able to assert them over the human part of the gestalt.

It is an unfortunate fact that, when faced with such an analysis of technology, tech people will often think that for whatever reason the considerations that apply to literally the entire rest of the world of technology somehow don't apply to them. This kind of overweening arrogance is, of course, why we find ourselves in so much of the shit that we're in, but nonetheless, to really get my point across it's probably a good idea to spell out how these dynamics operate in the tech world specifically.

South Korea already has a large market for generative AI. A government survey earlier this year found that about one-quarter of South Koreans pay for AI services. By comparison, a PNC Bank survey found that about 2% of Americans pay for such services. Seoul estimates that more than 20 million people in South Korea use free generative AI tools.

The rollout is backed by a broader increase in AI spending. President Lee Jae Myung's administration has set aside about 10 trillion won, or $7.2 billion, for AI-related spending in 2026. That is three times the amount allocated the previous year.
