This game has me in an absolute choke-hold right now. It's just so charming. It went out of production in like '08 and I collected it for most of the short time it was in production, and for a while after as it was still selling at bargain bin prices (you can still see the stickers on some of the sealed product that's still out there).

After losing my collection a few years ago, I recently reached out to the games small but active community to see if any of them had stumbled upon it and although I haven't tracked it down yet, I have managed to get re-hooked on the game and my new collection is rapidly approaching the old one in size, although the availability of sets is much smaller now I'm still having so much fun collecting, building, and playing the game.

If you aren't familiar it's a miniatures game and the ships come in little playing card sized sheets of plastic. You punch the ships out and build them and you can build and customize your fleet with special crew members and such. They have little islands and gold pieces that you sail between to see who can get the most gold while you fight it out with your opponents' ships.

I'm not really selling it well (who comes here anyways?) but there are several pretty well made videos on YouTube that are worth checking out.

This how to play video is incredibly good

This absurdly long interview with one of the game's creators Mike Mulvihill is very interesting.

A well produced "battle report" if you're curious about how it's played

The game is currently maintained by the legendary Ben, who you can find at his website

It's really fun, you should check it out! Has anyone here heard of it? Played it? Love it or hate it?

One of the older rulesets, from 1996

It's a game that had a moment a few years back, but I do really wanna see it make another comeback

Now I won't need to block out a weekend to hold friends hostage to play it.

It includes a new beautiful character sheet, Lodestar itself - a quick reference guide, and an updated map of Ironlands.

I'm running a Hunter: The Reckoning(OWoD) for the first time in over a decade. This is the second session but technically the first as last time was session zero where they made their hunters and chose their creeds. The Wife is a Redeemer, Coworker 1 is an Innocent, and Coworker 2 is a Hermit. The Hermit is the one that's giving me the hardest time ST-ing for honestly. I'm having to make up a lot of what they hear in their head on the fly.

Tonight they'll be investigating the docks in the city that I've created for the chronicle.

Hey all,

I'm new here and I wanted to start a discussion about TTRPGs that people enjoy. I really like seeing people talk passionately about those sorts of things. I'm, personally, a big fan of games by Jenna Moran (Nobilis, Glitch, etc) and have a lot of positive experience with certain Powered by the Apocalypse Games. I'm also fascinated by a lot of OSR content because I feel like it has the potential to capture some of the more interesting parts of early D&D (my partner and I discuss AD&D quite a bit).

I used to write homebrew for Exalted and I've played some WoD games, but it's not my true passion, except maybe for Changeling the Lost. I had a long-running game of Ars Magica 5e a while ago, which was a tremendous experience and really ignited my interest in more dense, bean-countery games that I had previously been discounting in favor of lighter, more narrative-drama experiences.

I'm not as big a fan of D&D as some, but my partner and I did meet because of 3.5e homebrew, so I do have some positive nostalgia.

Anyway, what about you- what TTRPGs are you interested in? Which ones have you had long or interesting games with? What are you looking forward to playing, or setting up to play?
