I would imagine that this drink is not very popular in the sailing community.

Beautiful night, messing around before dropping anchor as both the wind and the sun went down.

One block. Multiple configurations.

I got tired of carrying a mountain of spares to replace broken sailing blocks, And the one that breaks is alway the one I dont have a spare for, so l engineered a solution.

This is a modular sailing block designed to replace snatch blocks, triples, sheeve blocks and much more.

I made a deep dive video on the mechanics and load-testing results.

The block is available in the folowing link.

Thank you so much for being a part of our journey. https://reversing-entr...

If you need the technical drawings, please come back later today or tomorrow.

I created a new profile on thingiverse last night to make it easier for everyone but im not allowed to upload until 24h have past.

Buying and selling cheap old sailboats anywhere in the world.

Hi there,

Do you have a cheap old sailboat for sale (could be anywhere in the world)? I'll probably buy it. At least there is some probability of a purchase. You can reply below or DM me.

It doesn't matter so much which condition the boat is in, it being cheap is of higher priority. Haggling definitely accepted and encouraged. Please be friendly and no swearing or sarcasms. I know sailors and surfers can be good people sometimes.

@sailing Sailing question: On a Catalina 27, if you had a choice between a loose-footed main and a boltrope main (where it is attached for the full length of the boom), which would you prefer?

And how much work would it be to convert a boltrope boom to a loose-footed boom? (my assumption is virtually no work required, but I could be wrong)

Hey boaters of mastodon/fediverse: What do you recommend as a removable mounting solution for a large raymarine navionics screen?

Previously we've been using a terrible, no-good, endlessly frustrating mounting ball "solution". But we have an opportunity to find something better.

Spending my evening trying to identify a seemingly obscure piece of boom shackle tackle.

Or, more specifically, a boom vang that seems to have a harness that goes around the boom, instead of a bracket that attaches to the boom.

Can't seem to find the right words to describe it ... but the existing one is fraying & could fail.

If you're sailing in fog and want other ships to be able to steer clear of you, what would be the best song to blast at full volume?

I originally thought it was a Morgan, but then I realized the portlights were in a different position. Any guesses what this might be?

Edit: Found it! https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/whitney-41/

I mean, physically, when going upwind with little to no wind, does it worth it turning on the engine and keep the sails close hauled? Does the foward advantage the sails give you compensate the drag, or is it better to just drop the sails all together? What would be faster, or what would use less fuel? Can somebody mathematically demonstrate it?

Having moved onto the "trots" to avoid that marina vibe, sailors more generally and save £££s, I thought I better get some security deterence.

Bought myself one of these puppies for 50 English £s- So far so good and seems like money well spent.

Additionally, checking in every day has given me a huge confidence boost when it comes to mooring. The channel where the boat lives is a tough one to Moor in. Now I can learn about the tidal flow idiosyncrasies and it doesn't seem as restrictive as I though it was going to be... Hello,

i'm a newbie to the sailing world. I am in the process of getting my (german/international) boating license. I'm wondering though, since its mostly theoretical with very limited time hands on on a real boat, where some of you guys learned to sail. Theoretically after this course I am allowed to sail any noncommercial vessel.

Thank you for your help!

UK sailors looking to rid themselves of those nasty algae infused halyards & sheets should check out Outdoor Xscape The Rope Company. Indy biz with a great guy at the helm. Hilarious chat, fab advice & by far the best prices I've found. You could do a lot worse

I have a U.S. Sailing basic keelboat cert and a couple hundred hours’ experience day sailing 22’ Capri and dinghies in protected water.

With that level of experience, who will rent me a boat to noodle around in San Diego bay?
