Mabuhay at maligayang pagdating sa Lemmy! 🇵🇭

A fediverse community for the Philippines and all things Filipino!

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

BREAKING: Iran assures the Philippines that it will allow Philippine-bound and Philippine-flagged ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement Thursday, April 2, that Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi today to discuss "stronger bilateral cooperation on all fronts."

"During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister assured the Secretary that Iran will allow the safe, unhindered, and expeditious passage through the Strait of Hormuz of Philippine-flagged vessels, energy sources, and all Filipino seafarers," the DFA says.

I find it cruel that the powers-that-be have to bend the knee in the name of "neutrality" so that Tsar Vlad has currency to spend on his little war of autocracy.

As the corporation is not doing enough to police its content, the game would be banned for offenses against the state.

MANILA — Authorities have rescued seven minors after intelligence information revealed alleged online discussions about staging a school attack and suicide, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) said.

According to PNP-ACG Acting Director Police Brigadier General Wilson Asueta, the operation stemmed from a report that the minors were exhibiting signs of “nihilistic violence” and suicidal ideation online.

Asueta said the minors were part of a virtual game where they were allegedly encouraged to watch violent content, including materials featuring mass attackers and other disturbing personalities.

“‘Pag ito ay palagi mong pinapanood, ma-influence ka. Na-adopt mo ‘yung sistema doon, mayroong tendency to result to violence. Kaya nihilistic violence ang tawag natin dito,” he said.

Investigators found that the group’s online exchanges included images and references to past mass attacks and school shooters.

Goddamn edgelordism.

Sometimes I feel it is more necessary cut off the source of the poison rather than trying to police the content and praying the fucking brainrot doesn't cause so much damage.
